Panotour - Advanced - Livepano as a 360 video

Intro

Since Panotour Pro 2.5+ now accepts 360° video in input as a scene, you may be interested in turning your Livepano into a 360° video, this tutorial will explain how to do just that.

The end result of this tutorial is a 360° video, you do not need a Livepano licence to use it as a scene in Panotour Pro, this tutorial simply uses the base source files of a Livepano to create a 360° video, which is an interesting alternative to filming every angle of your scene.



Requirements

To follow this tutorial you will need:

  • Autopano Giga
  • Autopano Video
  • Your Livepano source files (photos + video(s) must all be in the same folder! )
  • Panotour Pro 2.5+ to input the 360° video as a scene (optional if you only want to publish the video on it's own on Facebook or YouTube for example)

Step One - Import in Autopano Video

If there are several Livepano in your scene

  1. If there are several Livepano in your scene, drag and drop the video files into Autopano Video
  2. Open the Stitch window, click on Stitch as GoPro (even if the videos were not shot with GoPro)
  3. Click on Edit to launch Autopano Giga and move on to step two.


If you have only one Livepano in your scene

  1. Autopano Video can not stich a single video, so duplicate your video file, and drag and drop them both into Autopano Video
  2. Open the Stitch window, click on Stitch as GoPro (even if the videos were not shot with GoPro)
  3. Click on Edit to launch Autopano Giga and move on to step two.


  • Drag'n'drop your files into Autopano Video

  • Stitch as GoPro

  • Click on Edit



Step Two - Edit in Autopano Giga

  1. Once in Autopano Giga, go back to the file explorer containing your source files, and create a new group using your photos and the frames extracted from your videos by Autopano Video
    • If there is only one Livepano in your scene, you can leave the duplicate frame out
  2. Check the image properties are correct concerning the lens type, and stitch your panorama like a normal one
  3. Check that the frame(s) were correctly placed in your panorama, and if not, edit the control points and links with the surrounding photos to improve the position
  4. You can modify the color correction, exposure and also place masking points on and around the video to your liking
  5. When you have finished your edits, save the project over the .pano that Autopano Video created, which will bring your edits back to Autopano Video
  6. Move on to step three


  • Select your photos + Autopano Video's extracted frame and drag them into Autopano Giga

  • Check the image properties are correct

  • Stitch your panorama as usual, and place masking points for the video and surrounding photos

  • Save the .pano over the one created by Autopano Video



Step Three - Back in Autopano Video

  1. Wait for Autopano Video to synchronize the new panorama
  2. Quickly check the video was properly incorporated by moving the blue cursor across the timeline
  3. Select which part you want to render by moving the red timeline
  4. Render
    • You'll notice that the maximum size allowed by source and the output settings differ. The video's maximum size once rendered will be the second one.
  5. Done!


Now you can watch your 360° Livepano Video in GoPro VR Player, use that video in Panotour Pro as your scene or even upload it on Youtube or Facebook!


  • Wait for it to synchronize

  • The red timeline is the part of the video that will be rendered

  • Render window
